Seng reports on growing beef exports to Russia

(Audio with Philip Seng, president and chief executive officer of the U.S. Meat Export Federation)

At the Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver on Thursday, July 17, Philip Seng, president and chief executive officer of the U.S. Meat Export Federation, provided cattle producers with a report on the strong growth in U.S. beef exports during the first half of 2008. One of the markets driving this growth is Russia, where strong oil revenues and other economic factors are resulting in surging demand for high-quality proteins.

Seng projects continued growth potential for beef exports to Russia, especially if Russia becomes a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO). He says WTO membership would make this market even more accessible to U.S. exports.

Audio Clip #2               : 17           Outcue:     “… advantageous for us.”
